Reflections on the origins and expectations for the future, themes highlighted at the opening of GAT EXPO 2024

(Cartagena, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Yesterday, José Aníbal Aguirre, organizer of the show, welcomed a very special edition of GAT EXPO on its 25th anniversary. Together with Evert Montero Cárdenas, President of FECOLJUEGOS, Marco Emilio Hincapié, COLJUEGOS President, and other executives and representatives of the main companies and associations of the sector at a national and international level, they gathered at the traditional event.

Reflections on the origins and expectations for the future, themes highlighted at the opening of GAT EXPO 2024

Within the inauguration of GAT, its organizer, José Anibal Aguirre, recalled the beginnings: “In 1999, a very small trade event was born, in which we put all our efforts so that when the new millennium arrived it would reach a prominent position in the events of the gaming industry that was beginning to shine in the world at that time. Since that moment we have seen a lot of water flow under the bridge”

In 2019 we took the leap by incorporating technology into the brand, becoming GAT Gaming & Technology thanks to advice from Dr Juan Carlos Restrepo, understanding the importance of technology in the growth of an industry based on creativity and innovation. GAT is my most important life experience: being born, growing up, going through adolescence and reaching the age of 25 is a huge joy. “It’s not my birthday, but GAT is an integral part of my being,” he added proudly.

“Gaming & Technology Expo” is a great stage in the region where national and foreign manufacturers, suppliers casino chain operators and also representatives of small businesses and gaming halls meet.”

In his turn, Evert Montero Cárdenas, President of the Colombian Federation of Gambling Entrepreneurs (FECOLJUEGOS), took the stage to greet and celebrate the 25th anniversary of GAT. In his speech, he highlighted the show as an essential space for the meeting and collaboration of the different actors in the gaming sector in Latin America. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening strategic alliances and responsibility in gaming, and called for organizing a meeting for all Latin American regulators.

“Looking to the future, many more opportunities await us to innovate and grow, with the spirit of collaboration that characterizes us and setting new standards of excellence in the industry,” he added.

GAT is not just a show, it is a vibrant community. So as we celebrate 25 years of achievement, we also look forward, with anticipation and excitement for what is to come. Happy 25 years GAT, here we are to celebrate, learn and above all, continue moving forward together on a horizon full of possibilities with admiration for everyone,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, José Anibal Aguirre, organizer of GAT, said as part of his opening speech: “We have advanced in our academic days by linking associations from other countries, Latin American regulators and updating experts that will allow us to enrich knowledge and ties in each of the conferences, panels and round tables scheduled on this date.”

Then he added: “But in this whole story, what has really made me happy is having a network of clients and allies, who more than that are true friends who have given us their trust, and whom I will see again at GAT events, or in other international fairs is a real joy, which allows the integration of an industry that worked well and was articulated from each of the action fronts of its members. I am proud to be able to celebrate with you tonight on the 25th anniversary of GAT, sharing with a Colombian party the best of music, folklore and the warmth of my country with all of you. Welcome. I officially declare the 25th version of Gaming and Technology Expo installed.”

Aguirre joined the FECOLJUEGOS initiative to organize a meeting for all Latin American regulators, and to complement his proposal, he invited all the associations present at the fair (AIEJA, SONAJA, etc.) to add the unions to the initiative and make a joint summit with Latin American regulators.

“There must be a Latin American alliance against illegality, where the regulated market has not only economic but also legal guarantees to develop its activity,” he concluded.
